As I read about Africa and its need for more energy and light- hours, it reminded me of flying over Mexico at night many years ago. When I looked down, there were almost no lights on the ground. Unlike flying across the US where everywhere there are lights. I imagine Africa, much larger, is much like that. I’m glad the UN has set a goal - for the world. Thanks for all the info. I’m following climate change worldwide. It seems to be showing up as climate violence - witness Buffalo and California’s atmospheric rivers.

I agree with everything (except the unimportant obiter dicta about countries -- Ghana and Vietnam in your example -- "competing" with each other. Change that to relative prosperity and you are OK).

And it is not disagreement, but an observation that you did not mention that the way to reconcile economic growth and reduction of CO2 emissions is to tax net emissions.
